Now, two bicycle stores in Adams Morgan

The City Paper's Housing Complex recently reported on BicycleSPACE plans to expand in Adams Morgan

The neighborhood is already well served by City Bikes (and this writer has been bringing his bikes to that store for servicing for years).

Some might see two stores as competition, but that might not be the case. The proximity of two bicycle stores may make Adams Morgan more of a city-wide destination for people who are bicycle shopping.

If these stores have competition at all, it's likely from Capitol Bike Share. Many, it seems, would prefer to rent than own. The bike station at 18th and Columbia is frequently emptied out of rentals, especially in the morning.

It's also great to see the arrival of a retail store in neighborhood. It needs more of a mix.

Deciding about Washington DC and Adams Morgan

Thoughts about Tennesse

Tennessee State Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were removed from the legislature because they are Black and liberal. This is racism and bigotry in all its ugliness. This is joined by the Supreme Court, which allows voting suppression to flourish again. I can't believe the path this nation is on. I just can't. But then, when you peel back the covers a little, you find the racism and blind hatred that has always been a part of this country has never disappeared until the Republicans unleashed it. It should be clear why participation in the political process matters. In DC, that usually isn't an issue. Our problem is we are denied representation in Congress, and our local laws exist at the pleasure of Congress. Something has to change.
